hanauma the bomba

Hanauma Bay is at the southern tip of Oahu and has the most amazing snorkerling, and I think almost everyone but me was able to swim with a turtle. Everytime I went out searching I had no luck, but all the underwater pictures they took looked awesome. This was Halles first time in the ocean water and I am pretty sure she loved it and I think she even got a little tan, I am praying she gets her daddys skin. I would definitely recommend Hanauma Bay to any and everyone. hang loose!

wedding a la hawaii

the reason that we went to hawaii in the first place was because my brother Curtis and sister-in-law Steph were getting married the day after the football game. they were sealed together in the Laie Temple, and what a wonderful and gorgeous event it was. halle sported one of her new hawaiin dresses and charmed everyone. we are so grateful for temples and for eternal families.

backing up a bit back to hawaii

One of the big highlights of our Hawaii trip was sitting seven rows up from the field at the Hawaii vs BSU football game. We all lost our voices, the place was packed and the party was awesome...all except for the fact that we lost. But hey thats okay our group got on espn like five times. And after the fact we were all thinking maybe its a blessing in disguise that we didn't win, because we were in bright orange, our shirts said BEAT HAWAII and their fans are brutal. Next year Hawaii on the smurf turf.... Go Broncos!

Taser Day

This is what 50,000 volts of electricity looks and sounds like going through your body. I only have one thing to say, "Always comply with the police." Someone else shot video from the front, so when I get that I will post it too. This was for my taser certification class, the tasing was voluntary, not mandatory. I went first so I didn't have to see what it was like for the others before I went. I was the only one to take the probes (which are 2 straight 1/2 inch fish hooks) and go for 5 seconds, a few others went for a few seconds and maybe I will post some of their footage too. It hurt really bad, every muscle in my body contracted, but it was immediate relief when the five seconds were up. The guys weren't really holding me up, I pretty much froze like a statue and would have grunted more but I ran out of breath. Still the pepper spray was worse than this. I actually did this so I could post the video footage for all of your viewing pleasures.

207!!

207!! I joined a bowling league with my Mom a couple of weeks ago, well right now I am just a sub but I have to do that to be able to go to the state tournament. It is so fun....we bowl with a bunch of old ladies, they are so stinking funny! I love watching them bowl, it only takes their ball a half an hour to get down the lane, and some how, I don't get it, but they knock all of those pins down, one at a time. I will never understand how they can throw the ball down the lane at 1 mph and then some of us younger women can chuck it down there, get great pin action and still leave 1 pin standing stiff as a board right in the the middle....I will never understand. Anyways, I am having fun and will be substituting for a team called the Lame Dames next week (Doloros, Melva and Jo), I can't wait.Life doesn't get much better than this!!! Oh by the way the 207 is the high game that I bowled today and it felt great. And all the ladies just LOVE Halle to pieces.

decisions...???

I hate making decisions, I am not good at them, and that is all there is to it. And lately I have been going back and forth and back and forth deciding between cutting my hair off or letting it grow out. I have been changing my mind every other day for weeks now. I had myself convinced that I was going to grow it out long again...then Halle decided to start pulling my hair and literally minutes after deciding to grow my hair out, Halle spit up all over my hair. I changed my mind instantly, called my friend Cassie who does hair and had an appointment set up for the next day. Usually I am pretty conservative and like to keep it simple but I let her go at it and asked for an A line cut. This was the first time I have ever walked out of a hair salon giddy, I actually loved my haircut. Thanks Cass!

Halles Blessing Day

Halle was blessed on October 28th. We had a lot of family there supporting us including my in-laws, Steve and Margaret, who are on a mission right now, but were in Boise for medical reasons. We were very grateful to have them there with us. Daniel gave Halle a beautiful blessing, and Halle, of course, looked beautiful. I am so thankful for eternal families and I couldn't ask for a better one. This was such a wonderful day!

my big surprise....

One day when Dan and I have our own home we would really like to have an entertainment room with sports memorabilia as the decor, specifically our own personal sports memorabilia. So with that in mind my sweet, not always real romantic, husband did something great. He walked in from work one night with a package that the mailman left on the porch. He had me sit down and close my eyes. He put the package on my lap and let me go at it. After a small blind struggle I was able to get the package open and inside I found 2 of my UVSC college softball uniform tops! I didn't have any idea that he was doing that, we had talked about the idea a long time ago, but this was such a big surprise. He had contacted my coach and asked if he could buy them, but coach just put them in the mail. How awesome is that, now I think we might put my last name on the back and have it framed in glass so we can hang it in our sports room. I am so excited...thanks Dano, I love you!

BOO!!

Happy (late) Halloween! This was Halle's first Halloween and she was the cutest darn Pumpkin and M&M that I ever did see! Halle and I spent some time at Mom and Dads house earlier in the night and then she and I went to my brother-in-law Mark's Halloween party. There were a ton of people, a ton of food and lots of loud music, but Halle managed to stay asleep throughout the whole entire party, and then on through the night until 9am the next morning, and since I didn't want to wake her up to put her jammies on she slept in her pumpkin costume. I am a very lucky mommy. As for Dan, he is still at the police academy and didn't make it home in time to celebrate with us or go to the party. He was having his own 'party' at the academy, Halloween night was there night to get certified to carry Mace, so they had to spray each other. After being sprayed directly into the eyes they have to run across the room and beat up a guy for 1 minute then move onto another corner of the room and take a guy down and handcuff them. Then they are rushed into the locker room and thrown into the showers to start flushing out there eyes, then they are taken outside in the cold night air to help with the burning. Dan said it was the worst thing he has ever gone through and wishes they could have just shot him. Some of the other guys at the Academy drove him home and he spent an hour and a half rinsing and trying to clean out his eyes in the shower. He couldn't see clearly for a couple hours after being sprayed and he couldn't touch Halle or I at all. There are a lot of details that I am sure I am leaving out, so feel free to call Dan, he loves talking about it. Thanks Dan-o for being such a stud and taking such good care of Halle and I!

Good Ol McCall Idaho

McCall Idaho is Dans favorite place in the whole wide world. It is where we spent our honeymoon and our anniversaries, we love it and couldn't say enough good about it. We finally were able to take Halle and the Hardy side of the family there for a little weekend get away. It was a blast; we golfed, went disco ice skating, had a fire and made smores, played games, walked around down town and slept in, it was great. I hope we can make it up there more often. (Thank you to Poppy (Dan's Grandpa) for his generosity in sharing the condo!!)

navajo tradition

It is a Navajo tradition to keep your childs umbilical cord when it falls off and bury it with a new tree and then the child and the tree grow together, its our Halle tree. It is a Blazing Autumn Oak tree and it is planted in the front yard of my parents house (the had an empty spot). We chose that tree in case Halle follows in her mothers footsteps and gets auburn hair. Dad and Dan had the tree buried in no time at all and it looks wonderful. I can't wait to see it 10 years from now.

DEPUTY DAN

The Wilkins are doing great! I am very much enjoying being a stay at home Mom and spending almost my every moment with my beautiful daughter. I love her so much!!! Daniel officially started his new job today (Oct 8th) for the Ada County Sheriffs Department. Dan was offered a job as a Deputy there, after 3 months of tests, interviews, polygraph tests...etc. He is very excited to be working a steady job since he has pretty much been retired since we moved back to Boise. I have loved every minute of it, but know that he has got to work. He has one week of preparation and then he goes to POST, which is the Academy Training, for five weeks. Then after he graduates from that he starts his rounds at the jail. I went and had a tour after his orientation, it was "supposed to" make me feel better about him working there. "It was kind of scary!" I was able to see many of the inmates in there dorms, both male and female, and all of the stations Dan will work at, and some are scarier than others. We have been able to speak to a few people who work there, and love it, and they say that the Deputies are very safe and have very few incidences. All I know is that Daniel is going to be in my prayers every day. Dan is very excited about this job and I am happy for him! (Oh! and Go Broncos!)

our good news

Yesterday, (the 20th) we found out that Daniel has officially been offered a job at the Ada County Sheriffs Department. We haven't had a job since we moved back to Boise, which was back at the end of June. Well not a steady job, just odds and ends. For me this news is kind of bitter sweet... I have loved having a husband without a job, I get to see him all of the time and he takes such good care of Halle at night. But then again I am very happy. Dan will be working in the County jail by the Boise Towne Square, kind of scary if you ask me, but he does get a uniform (wink). He has orientation October 7th and starts the Academy October 8th. Our other good news is that Halle is 1 month old today. She is getting so big and still so cute. I love being her Mom!

the cutest little bsu fan ever

since bsu beat wyoming this past saturday and halle was wearing her lucky bronco gear, now she has to wear it every game day!! isn't she a doll?!! go broncos!

Well, its been a month since our little angel joined our family! Halle Maxine was born on August 20, 2007 at 8:21pm. After being induced at 8am and having contractions for 9 hours I got an epidural. Then after another couple of hours of more pitocin, I was still only dialated to 5cm (and I started at 3cm) so they thought the best way to go was to have a c-section. Halle and I are both doing well. I feel so blessed to have her as my daughter. I can't explain how I feel inside everytime I hold her, look at her or even hear her. I am so in love with her and truly feel like she is a little piece of heaven. I am sure she is sorely missed by many up in heaven. I can't wait for everyone to meet her. We were able to see Chris and Staci a little over a week ago and had a wonderful time. It was so great to see Halle with them (and we can't wait for Halle to have a little friend of her own... no pressure).

almost there

well, i have been having some contractions and some pressure "down there" but still no baby. tomorrow is her official due date, but if thats even going to happen i think i should start feeling something real soon (unless i am going to be one of those real lucky women who has quick labors , i am crossing my fingers). if halle doesn't come by the 20th, which is this coming monday, we are going to be induced, starting at 7:30am. they are going to put me on pitocin right away to get my body contracting and then dr. minge is going to come and break my water at 9:00am, and who knows how long it will take after that. dr. minge says sometimes her patients deliver by 4:00ish and some don't until midnight-2:00am. so i don't know, but she did say i have favorable conditions (i am already dialated to a 3 and by then might be even further, i am already efaced 80%, and halle's head is very low). at our appointment this last wednesday dr. minge stripped my membranes to help bring on labor and she almost couldn't reach my cervix to do so because halle's head was in the way. so i hope that all contributes positively during labor. but i can't wait to meet halle and to be her mom and to see daniel hold her in his arms. the picture above is a picture of where she is going to sleep for the first little while...aaahhhh! we are crossing our fingers that halle comes naturally on her own within the next 2 days, and if not, everyone wish me luck starting early monday morning (its kind of weird knowing that by this monday i will officially be a mom). i can't wait to send pictures and to visit everyone.... until then.

Hardy Family Fear Factor

I know its been a long time since I have added anything, but I guess better late than never. At our most recent family reunion, one day was devoted to an all day event of Fear Factor. Events ranged from horseshoes and bocci ball, to rafting relays at Sandypoint, and of course there had to be like 7 eat something discusting events. I did surprisingly well eating all the gross stuff, unlike Dan who has a major strong gag reflex, but he only threw up once out of his mouth and a few times in his mouth. My team, the yellow team did very well throughout the entire competition and one the whole thing (much to Dano's dismay). Some of the eating events included eating, rotten vulture eggs, mealy worms and 100 year old meatballs, frozen sea otter tongues, pureted grasshoppers and others. My dad and two of his brothers were in charge of the whole thing and they did an awesome job.

almost there...

i am officially 39 days away from my due date and still getting bigger and bigger, and now that i really look at the picture i don't think that it is even doing that much justice... i feel huge. can't wait for my little girl to get here.
