"nastics class"

A few months ago Hal started a gymnastics class, and since my Mom knew that I was signing her up she got her a gymnastics outfit for Christmas, and miss Halle wears it faithfully every Wednesday morning. This is one of my most favorite parts of every week, I love watching Halle strut her stuff, learn knew things and have tons of fun.

The kids have to learn to sit while the teacher shows them what to do at each station so they all sit on the steps and: turn on their watching eyes, their listening ears "click, click", they stay quiet "shhh shhh" and they keep their fingers still "wiggle wiggle wiggle" and their hands to themselves "clap clap clap, hands in our lap". It didn't take her long to memorize this and it makes me so proud to be one of the Moms that don't have to pin down their child while the teacher in teaching (thanks Hal). Once she is done they are off...
they jump and do different tricks on the cutest little mini-trampolines...
they learn to lift themselves up and roll over bars...
they learn to walk on balance beams all by themselves...
they learn to use their tummy muscles and lift their legs up high, grab the bar with their toes and swing like a monkey...
they learn to lift both legs off the ground at the same time and kick a balloon way up high...
among many many other fun stations like climbing the wall, rope swings, uneven bars, hopscotch, baseball stations and lots of other great stuff at the end Halle can't get enough of the stamps on both hands AND both feet. She gets so nervous when we go to put her socks and shoes back on for fear the stamp will disappear. We think "nastics class" is AWESOME!

Reminisce

I'm not the most consistent, I have good streaks here and there, but I really do love journaling. Not only do I love writing in my journal, I love to come across my old journals and read about everything that I thought was important. This is a picture from when I was like 8 years old, my Dad found it while cleaning out his office closet. Dan and I had it read in just a couple of nights. We laughed like we never laughed before. There were some very silly moments and some very tender moments. I hope to continue writing in my journal forever (I consider scrapbooks and blogs journals as well, so not just writing with a pen in a lined book, although I do love looking back at all my different hand writing and how my penmanship really has improved). In this picture I was writing about how a girl named Gretchen knocked over the piano in class and how I finally beat Tara Brokaw at tetherball at recess, oh yeah the good ol days!

What! What!

Dan and I entered our brackets into two different groups on ESPN.com. The Hardy-Bassett Group and the Wilkins Group...and I guess a victory dance is in order. I got first place in the Wilkins Group and second place in the Hardy-Bassett Group. I wish I could say that it was due to hard work pushing numbers and stats but it was pretty much thanks to some lucky guesses. It is a fun tradition and its always nice to beat Dano at something. (Dan did get a gracious second place in the Wilkins Group). What a great tournament and championship game, it still would have been a good game if Butler won, they are a great team, a great story and have a cool coach..... but since they didn't...
GO DUKE AND GO COACH K!!
